Fly Kid Fly

Description: Bright and lively coffee shop serving good coffee, tea, & brekky burritos all day! A colorful and playful aesthetic, warm staff, and vibrant atmosphere!

Comments: Super small, but it’s in The Bowl at Ballantyne with plenty to do and tons of outdoor seating. If it’s warm, you won’t worry about finding a seat. The inside seating is very unique looking. I'm not good at describing things, but it just doesn't look like a typical coffee shop set up. Very colorful, curves here and there in the design. I like it. The seats aren't comfortable though, just wooden backs, but if you're looking to stay awake and focused, then they're marvelous.

If you can snag a cubicle, you can post up and get some work done, there's even some outlets. The corner ones are my favorite. Feels kind of snug. Definitely bring noise canceling headphones though since it’s small and you can hear everyone within always.

This Charlotte Observer article said to order the Cumulus, described as “an iced matcha with toasted coconut, blue spirulina, and a cloud of cream, agave, and sea salt. If you’re not a coconut fan, skip it, but otherwise, this drink is a little work of art.”

That sounds spot on for the kind of vibe this place has. I haven't yet gotten into matcha, despite recent rather persuasive attempts to win me over. If you try it, let me know how it is.

Right across the street, also in The Bowl, you have The Salty Donut with more indoor space and cinnamon rolls. Oh, and this place has cinnamon rolls too, orange flavored. So, if you drive down here you can do a whole cinnamon roll run with Fly Kid Fly, The Salty across the street, Sunflour Bakery nearby, and Smallcakes Ballantyne. Bro that’s four places to get cinnamon rolls in a small little area. I love Ballantyne.
