Description: A woman-owned coffee shop and cocktail bar in Plaza Midwood designed as an all-day third place for morning coffee, co-working, and drinks later in the day. The former auto shop has a good number of indoor seats, industrial bones, warm feminine design details, and a dog-friendly patio.
The beverage program spans coffee, cocktails, mocktails, dirty sodas, THC drinks, beer, and wine, with house-made syrups like ube coconut, mountain berry, Thai tea, lavender vanilla, matcha banana pudding, brown sugar cardamom, chai, and espresso martini. Food is intentionally light, with nuts and pretzels instead of a full kitchen, plus rotating local vendor pop-ups planned
Comments: I love that the owner is intentionally calling this a “third place.” It’s clearly built for lingering, with comfortable sofas, tables, and bar seating instead of a quick in-and-out coffee counter. And the staff goes out of their way to be kind, personable, and engaging. If you've ever seen those memes about cold, distant, overworked baristas that make you feel guilty for making an order, the staff here is the opposite. They're very friendly.
The building is a renovated auto shop, but it’s far from the very overdone industrial chic aesthetic. There’s nothing cookie cutter about the space. I’d describe it as unapologetically feminine. It feels deeply customized to the owner’s taste, with dark green walls, gold details, and a softer personality layered over the garage bones.
This would be a top tier spot for a women’s book club, or something of that nature. In the times I’ve visited, I’ve been the only man in the building, lol. It has a cozy, very feminine energy where you could imagine the cast of Gilmore Girls, Pretty Little Liars, or Gossip Girl sitting around with coffee, debriefing their lives, and somehow turning a casual conversation into an entire season arc.
And sometimes they have this vintage rotary phone setup gossip game thing. There are two phones inside where guests can record anonymous confessionals, and the team plans to turn those recordings into a social series. One pink phone says, “Spill the tea, tell us everything, sis,” which is the kind of playful, slightly dramatic touch that makes a place feel like more than just a cafe.
Also worth noting, Plot Twist sits in the same compound as Trope Bookshop and Wiloe Home & Gift, creating a small women-owned pocket just off Central Avenue. That makes the whole corner feel like a fun little Plaza Midwood hangout cluster, especially if you want coffee, books, gifts, and gossip all in one outing.
